BNB Chain has announced plans to introduce native liquid staking on BNB Smart Chain (BSC) as part of its broader strategy to migrate the remaining functionality of the BNB Beacon Chain before its complete shutdown.
The move is designed to improve network efficiency, strengthen security, and provide BNB holders with greater flexibility by allowing them to stake assets while maintaining liquidity for use across decentralized finance (DeFi) applications.
BNB Chain Expands Native Liquid Staking
According to BNB Chain, the upcoming feature will enable users to stake their BNB without locking away the utility of their assets.
Instead, users will receive liquid staking tokens (LSTs) that represent their staked BNB. These tokens can be used across the BNB Chain ecosystem for various DeFi activities, including lending, borrowing, liquidity provision, and yield farming.
Although an official launch date has not been confirmed, BNB Chain said the feature is expected to roll out in the coming months.

BNB Beacon Chain Migration to BSC
The launch of native liquid staking is part of BNB Chain's ongoing migration from the BNB Beacon Chain to BNB Smart Chain (BSC).
According to the BNB Chain core development team, consolidating network functionality into BSC will streamline operations, improve overall efficiency, reduce security risks, and modernize the blockchain infrastructure.
The team said the migration is also intended to make the BNB ecosystem more attractive to developers, validators, and everyday users.
Greater Flexibility for BNB Holders
BNB holders will be able to delegate their tokens either directly to validators or through liquidity pools.
When staking through liquidity pools, users will receive liquidity provider (LP) tokens that can continue generating value across the ecosystem while the underlying BNB remains staked.
This approach allows users to earn staking rewards without sacrificing access to decentralized finance opportunities.
According to the development team, native liquid staking will not only improve the staking experience but also strengthen the overall security of the BNB Chain by encouraging greater validator participation.
MEV Optimization to Launch Alongside Liquid Staking
BNB Chain also confirmed that Maximum Extractable Value (MEV) optimization will be introduced alongside native liquid staking.
Validators that enable MEV will have the opportunity to generate additional revenue, which can increase staking yields for users participating in liquid staking.
By combining MEV rewards with liquid staking, BNB Chain aims to deliver higher returns while improving validator incentives and network security.
Why This Matters
Liquid staking has become one of the fastest-growing sectors in decentralized finance because it allows investors to earn staking rewards while keeping their assets usable across blockchain applications.
By bringing native liquid staking directly to BNB Smart Chain, BNB Chain is positioning itself to compete more effectively with other blockchain ecosystems that already offer liquid staking solutions.
The upgrade is expected to boost capital efficiency, strengthen network decentralization, and expand DeFi opportunities for millions of BNB users.
