Binance to Migrate Funding Account Crypto to Spot Starting September 29

Binance is changing how users’ assets are organized across its platform, with a major migration planned for September 29, 2026.

Starting on that date, Binance will gradually move crypto assets held in Funding Accounts to Spot Accounts. The migration is expected to continue through January 2027, with Binance saying that the specific batch dates will be announced separately.

After the migration period, the Funding Account will be renamed the Stocks Account and will be used for the settlement of stock and stock-options trading. Binance says the restructuring is intended to simplify its account structure and improve asset management.

What Is Changing on September 29?

The first major change takes effect on September 29. From that date, Funding Accounts will no longer support on-chain crypto deposits.

The account will instead transition toward its future role as the Stocks Account. Binance says the account will support six settlement assets for stock and stock-options trading: USD, USDC, USDT, USD1, U and BNB. After the eventual rename, deposits and withdrawals for other cryptocurrencies will be supported through Spot Accounts.

Binance will also introduce a “One-Click Migration” option that allows users to move crypto assets from their Funding Account to their Spot Account themselves. Users who do not complete the migration manually will have their remaining eligible crypto assets transferred automatically in batches beginning in January 2027.

Users' Total Asset Value Will Not Be Affected

Binance said the migration will not change users’ total asset value or the safety of their funds. The move concerns where assets are held within Binance’s account structure rather than a conversion or sale of the underlying crypto.

The exchange also said historical transaction records will retain their original Funding Account labels. Records from before and after the migration will not be modified simply because the assets move to another account.

Users who want to initiate the process themselves will need the latest version of the Binance iOS or Android application to access the One-Click Migration feature. Older versions will not display the feature, and users who cannot migrate manually will instead be handled through Binance’s automatic migration process starting in January 2027.

Binance Pay and Card Balances Will Move to Spot

The account restructuring also affects several Binance products.

From September 29, assets received through Binance Card and Gift Card will be credited to users’ Spot Accounts. Assets received through Binance Pay will also go to Spot Accounts from the same date.

Funding Accounts will continue to work temporarily as a payment source for Binance Pay. However, Binance plans to remove Funding Accounts as a payment source before the account is renamed Stocks Account. Once that happens, recurring send plans that rely exclusively on a Funding Account will stop executing, meaning users will need to configure those plans with another payment source.

Binance says assets held in the future Stocks Account will not be used to cover Binance Pay deductions.

Convert Orders and Recurring Orders Will Use Spot

The changes also extend to Binance Convert.

Existing unfilled Convert limit orders with assets frozen in a Funding Account will remain frozen, but after September 29 their assets will settle into the Spot Account. Expired limit orders will also settle their assets to Spot.

New Convert limit orders created from September 29 onward will freeze and settle assets exclusively through the Spot Account. Binance is therefore asking users to adjust their account setup to reflect the new structure.

Recurring orders are also changing. From September 29, Binance says recurring orders will settle assets into either the Spot Account or Wealth Management Account, while refunds from failed recurring orders will be returned to Spot.

Users using API integrations should also update account references from Funding to Spot to align with the migration.

Binance Alpha 2.0 Gets a Separate Account Flow

Binance Alpha 2.0 will also be affected by the restructuring.

Starting September 29, stablecoins used for Alpha 2.0 limit orders will be debited from and credited to users’ Alpha Accounts rather than relying on the Funding Account. Rebates from Binance’s Limit Order Liquidity Providers Program will also be credited to Alpha Accounts.

This means users interacting with Alpha 2.0 will need to pay attention to the account from which their assets are being sourced, particularly when placing limit orders after the migration begins.

P2P Users Face a Separate Transition

Binance’s P2P marketplace will follow a slightly different migration schedule.

Starting September 29, P2P users without advertising history and users who are not merchants will use the Spot Account as the default funding source for buy and sell orders after updating to the latest Binance App.

P2P advertisers, however, will continue using Funding Accounts as their default funding source through December 2026. This includes activities such as posting advertisements, merchant deposits, maker orders and taker orders. Users who begin posting advertisements during this period will also temporarily use the Funding Account.

Starting in December 2026, Binance plans to introduce a dedicated P2P Account for advertisers. Advertisers will then be guided to move assets associated with their advertisements from Funding Accounts into the new account. Binance says advertisements that have not been migrated after January 2027 will be automatically closed.

Binance Funding Account Migration Timeline

The main timeline is straightforward:

  • September 29, 2026: Funding Accounts stop supporting on-chain deposits.

  • September 29, 2026: One-Click Migration becomes available for eligible users.

  • September 29, 2026: Several products begin directing assets to Spot or dedicated accounts.

  • December 2026: Binance plans to introduce a dedicated P2P Account for advertisers.

  • January 2027: Funding Account migration is expected to conclude and the account will be renamed Stocks Account.

  • January 2027 onward: Crypto assets not proactively migrated will be transferred to Spot Accounts automatically in batches.

Binance has not yet provided the exact January 2027 date for the final rename and automatic migration schedule.

For users, the main change is that Spot Account becomes the primary destination for ordinary crypto assets currently held in Funding Accounts, while the renamed Stocks Account will be focused on stock and stock-options settlement. Binance has also emphasized that the restructuring will not affect users’ total asset value or fund safety.
